Hunting a Hungarian Vizlsa on live game to the stop whistle – Gundog Training

I took residential dog Florence training today on my land where we have a small shoot set up.  The goal was to see how steady she’d be to flushed game.  Over the last few days I’ve repeatedly re-enforced the stop/sit whistle hoping that when the moment came she’d listen.

I slowly worked the area and within a few minutes she flushed a pheasant and with a little re-enforcement she stood and let the bird fly away.  Immediately after she continued to hunt with no signs of running.  Over the hour Florence flushed 2 pheasants and a hare with stops on all.  The picture below is of her after a young cock pheasant flush were she was observing him after he’d landed quickly.Hungarian Vizsla hunting flushing a pheasant and on point
