Gundog photography with Andy Biggar at the Lakeland Gundog Training day, Cumbria, Lancashire. · 29 April 2012

I was delighted to attend a Charity gundog training day in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’ hosted by the Lakeland Gundog Club at the Biglands Estate.  Along with three other gundog trainers the aim of the day was to offer guidance on all disciplines of gundog training and to raise money for this worthy cause.  The main training focus on [...]

Gundog Training Morning and Gundog Photography. · 2 October 2011

Despite the horribly damp and windy conditions it was a great turn out for the gundog training day.  First and foremost I’d like to thank my hosts Sandip, Shallini and Shaan the who allowed me to use their amazing grounds for the event, it was very generous of them and I’m glad they enjoyed training with [...]

Livestock desensitisation training. · 23 August 2011

This boy is my 2 1/2 year old working Labrador Sam remaining steady whilst being approached by some curious sheep.  When Sam first joined my pack 18 months ago he was incapable of being this close to livestock without wanting to chase them but with the correct training, here at www.gundog-training4u.co.uk I believe that most canine behavioural problems can be overcome. If you [...]

I’m fortunate to have Andy Biggar (www.dog-photographer.co.uk)  who’s a great gundog photographer as a friend. Whilst Andy was visiting he snapped a few photos whilst I trained my gundogs.  This is Dexter my working Springer Spaniel training with a rabbit skin dummy supplied by Sporting Saint.

Megan and Sam my Working Labradors out Gundog Training. · 15 June 2011

Megan has just had her 4th birthday but her amenable and submissive nature means she will always be my little princess and she never fails to amaze me with her ability to work.  In my classes she works hard and when out training to the gun she’s a superstar.  This week, when out shooting, she took [...]

Gundog Training and Shooting with Megan my Labrador and Dexter my Springer Spaniel. · 26 May 2011

Pictured are Megan my working Labrador and Dexter my 10 month old Springer Spaniel who I took shooting today.  I have trained Megan to be my main dog, hunting up and flushing out the game and she’s a superb all round dog for the shooting field. Both dogs are trained daily and have worked with numerous [...]

Dog Obedience Classes · 9 April 2011

My pack sat to the stop whistle. This is the scene that met some members of my dog obedience group when they turned up for Saturday’s lesson.  I feel that my dogs set the benchmark for that mornings training session as the standard from some of the members and their dogs was very high. I [...]

Jet and Dexter my Working Spaniels. · 6 April 2011

Dexter and Jet my working Spaniels are progressing well. Jet is 14 months old and very headstrong, although his drive and determination to work for me is testament to the strength of our bond, I am aware that he needs to be steadier.  It’s important to remember that steadiness is the most important quality of all basic gundog [...]

Fen and Megan training on steadiness to retrieves · 23 March 2011

Megan is one of my gundogs and Fen is owned by a very good friend of mine.  Both gundogs are great and working them together helps to steady them to the gun and stops them running in on every retrieve as I’m able to send them individually while the other sits steady.
